Streamline Application with the Ag Leader DirectCommand System
- Tuesday, 17 May 2016 15:05
With the 2016 planting season wrapping up here in Western Illinois, now is the perfect time to check for uneven emergence in our corn. This can help with making future planter decisions concerning hydraulic downforce.
As we scout our fields after planting, we start switching our focus to application. Waste is the number one threat to your bottom line. In application, this is especially true. Wasted time, energy and inputs can put stress on that bottom line. With the Ag Leader® DirectCommand system, we can streamline that process to be as efficient and profitable as possible.
Paired with the InCommand™ 800 or 1200, the DirectCommand system will give you complete control of your application process. Both displays have multiple product control options; fuel cost and field compaction can be reduced by applying multiple products at one time. Eliminate over-application by controlling overlap, spray drift and application gaps. With the InCommand 1200 comes enhanced mapping that includes a split screen, allowing the operator to view multiple real-time pieces of information. Standard and Variable rate prescriptions can be applied through the DirectCommand system based on soil test and field maps. For the more advanced, Ag Leader’s OptRx® Crop Sensors measure and record data about crops in real time using the reflectance of light shone on the growing plant. This allows for variable rate application of liquid N during sidedress applications in real time depending on the health of the plant. When this system is paired with Agfiniti Mobile®, the grower can seamlessly take their maps with them. With SMS™ desktop software, growers can create variable rate application prescriptions, view and analyze application coverage maps and much more. Whether you have an NH3 toolbar, Liquid N sidedress unit, sprayer or spreader, the DirectCommand will transform the application process.

Precision Focus: New Technology from Ag Leader Promises to Help Growers Be More Profitable
- Tuesday, 01 March 2016 15:17
It’s hard to believe that 2015 was here and is already gone. Seems like yesterday that I was setting up the first planter of the season. We saw many challenges last year, much like we do every year, and at the end of the day Mother Nature still reigns as queen. That’s the only factor that we can’t control. So with today’s corn prices still under $4.00, it’s up to us to make sure that we make the best of our decisions when it comes to precision ag.
2016 is poised to be an exciting year for the Ag Leader® group with their announcement of the InCommand™ 800 & 1200 displays. The InCommand 1200 is the new flagship display for Ag Leader, replacing the Integra, which has been an excellent tool in the past. The new display takes precision ag to the next level with features like row-by-row data available to the operator in real time without the use of an iPad. This allows the grower to make sure that seed placement is optimal on every row for every variety. The split run screen will now allow the grower to monitor variety tracking during harvest, showing planting data and harvest data on one screen and real-time yields based on varieties and nutrient programs. Through AgFiniti® Mobile, the grower can wirelessly push the data to an iPad and walk an area of concern without putting the data into SMS™ first. This allows for quicker decisions and problem solving for the future. With updated user interfaces and improved ISO features, we are excited to get the InCommand 1200 out in the field for the spring of 2016. Ag Leader also announced that electric planter drives and row-by-row hydraulic downforce control will be available for the field in the spring of 2017.
