Start Thinking About Your Planter Setup Today

Kinze Planter setup last spring to apply Crop Choice starter fertilizer.
Happy New Year! As it is snowing here this morning, I thought I’d put together some pictures of a planter that is ready to go to the field to plant corn. As you can see, we have installed a custom delivery system for starter fertilizer. We have several different options to choose from, with several different price options to fit anyone’s budget. With that said, we also offer custom installation of the systems. Our staff has the expertise to mount the system and get the electronics interfaced to most any system you may already have in your tractor cab.
Our Crop Choice starters (which we can custom blend with micro nutrients) have shown to not only give your corn crop the nutrients the young corn plants need in that first 45 days, getting them off to a faster, better start in cooler (and maybe damper) conditions, especially in no-till, but we see a 1 to 2 points drier corn at harvest.
If you have been thinking about setting up your planter to apply starter contact us today!

Valmar Seeder and AerWay for your Covercrop
- Monday, 28 November 2016 08:21
This fall we incorporated our cereal rye covercrop with the Aerway/Remlinger Harrow after broadcasting with fertlizer. Got a good stand! Now, there is another option, the Valmar Air Seeder mounted on the Aerway. A great way to do two operations in one.
We are a Valmar Dealer, and if you have an interest in seeding your covercrop this way, let us know and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

5000 Stalk Devastator from Yetter

If you missed the SOIL SERVICE, INC field days last week, you really missed out on a lot of great information. Of course the corn and beans looked awesome in the plots, and there will be lots of data to go through after harvest this fall. However, the information given by our presenters was equally as awesome, and seamless. From the Ag Leader presentation all the way through the Yetter presentation, we were showing producers how they can save money on their inputs for next year, how they could manage residue this fall, and what products, including management tips, that could be used to accomplish these things.
One of the most impressive ideas that I saw, was the 5000 Stalk Devastator from Yetter (pictured above) Now you can protect your tires from premature wear from running over stalks (combine, tractor, truck), and preserve the stalk residue while crushing the stalks to facilitate quicker residue breakdown. The kits fit most corn heads and are easy to install. The head will also still fit on most OEM header cart trailers after the Stalk Devastator is installed.
We have two kits to fit JD corn heads in stock, others can be ordered and probably be ready by the end of September. If you are interested and want additional information, check out our web site or the Yetter web site.
If you are in Missouri and have more interest, call or email me.
SOIL Service Offers a Limited-Time Discount on AerWays
- Saturday, 02 January 2016 15:16
Who would have guessed that the 2014 fall tillage would have had the yield impact that it did on the 2015 crop? Tilled soil of any type led to earlier planting dates this year, which in turn had a significant influence on emergence, final stand and yield.
We have maintained tillage plots at the SOIL Service farm for many seasons. These plots are maintained in the same area every year. Over the years, the fall AerWay® use has been at or near the top of our yield checks with no-till and conventional tillage. These machines penetrate to a depth of eight inches, fracturing the soil while leaving some loose dirt on top to stop residue movement due to wind. The AerWay does not invert the soil, thus saving time and horse power on a function that is not necessary. After this tillage pass, water is allowed to penetrate faster (less run off), promote faster residue decomposition and to let the soil warm up and dry out much faster in the spring.
The SOIL Service AerWays were pulled over several thousand acres this year. These rental and demo machines are good trade-ins from the recent past. We are offering these AerWays to first time buyers at a substantial discount until January 31st. For those of you who are interested in purchasing a good machine at these prices, contact your sales representative or our office.
